The North Bay Golf Club Board of Directors has approved the following rules adjustments for play in
the 2004 season.
  • If your ball lies in a divot you may take relief. No penalty.
  • Spike marks on the green may be repaired.
  • If your ball lies in an area of the golf course that you think should be designated “Ground under
Repair” with the agreement of another player in your group you may take relief. No penalty.
  • If your ball is lost anywhere on the course other than out of bounds, rather than returning to spot
of previous stroke you may drop a ball as near the spot where you and another player suspect
ball should be and take one stroke penalty. This includes all rough areas parallel to fairways
    not designated as hazard.

In an effort to speed up play the following rule changes are being implemented:
  • Each player should try to improve awareness of how fast we play.  Whenever possible help
other players look for lost balls
  • Anytime you may have hit your shot out of bounds take a second shot so you will not need to
    return to replay the shot.
  • When you reach the green start lining up your putt rather than waiting for others to complete
putting.  If you will not be standing in another players line putt out rather than marking.
  • Play “Ready Play Golf” ALWAYS!

The USGA, in conjunction with the R&A in St. Andrews, Scotland, writes, interprets and maintains the
Rules of Golf to guard the tradition and integrity of the game. The two organizations are joint authors
and owners of The Rules of Golf and Decisions on the Rules of Golf. Through an agreement with
the R&A, the Rules jurisdiction of the USGA includes only the United States, its possessions and
Mexico. The latest version went into effect Jan. 1, 2004, with the next revision taking effect Jan. 1,
2008.
